Arleen H. Song, MD MPH
Arleen H. Song, MD MPH is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. She received her Masters in Public Heath at the University of Michigan and her BA at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan Hospitals in 2003.
Dr. Song completed a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the University of Michigan under the mentorship of Dr. Arnold Advincula. During this time she gained extensive training in advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery. In particular, she gained significant experience in robotic surgery as Dr. Advincula and the University of Michigan were leaders in the early adoption of robotics for gynecologic surgery.
Following fellowship, Dr. Song was an Assistant Professor of the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan. During that time she served as the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery Clinical Services and the Director of Hysteroscopic Surgical Services. She was extremely active in the education of residents and medical students and served as a co-preceptor for the Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship.
Dr. Song specializes in minimally invasive approaches to gynecologic surgery with an emphasis in the medical and surgical treatment of uterine fibroids, abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts, painful periods and endometriosis. She has extensive experience in robotic and laparoscopic myomectomy (removal of fibroids), hysterectomy (removal of uterus), resection and ablation of advanced endometriosis, lysis of adhesions, and removal of ovarian cysts or ovaries. She has substantial operative hysteroscopy experience for the treatment of uterine abnormalities and abnormal bleeding.
Dr. Song has been board certified since 2006. She is a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL) and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG). She serves on the Robotic Special Interest Group of the AAGL. She has served as teaching faculty for numerous educational programs and has been a speaker at national meetings. She has served as a peer reviewer for journals as well as abstract submissions for the AAGL national meeting. She has published in peer-review journals, textbooks, and presented her research at national meetings. |
