Laser surgery

Laparoscopy is often referred to as "laser surgery". A laser is considered one of the many instruments that are available to perform different surgical procedures. In gynecologic surgery, lasers may be used during laparoscopy for treatment of endometriosis, removal of ovarian cysts, treatment of adhesions (scar tissue), or as part of a hysterectomy (removal of uterus and cervix).

There are different types of lasers available. Surgeons may be experienced using certain types.
